Project Summary
Replacement and upsizing storm water drainage.
Project Features
- Stadium Shoppes completely razed an old shopping center and re-developed it into an upscale retail strip center. Part of the improvements was the replacement of a failing and inadequately sized 72 inch corrugated metal pipe with a 12 ft by 8 ft reinforced concrete box culvert. The upper end of the pipe was replaced in the initial redevelopment phase but the lower 900 ft had to wait until an existing Walmart store could be demolished since the pipe was so close to the foundation it could not be disturbed. Emery Sapp & Sons Inc was selected to complete the replacement in the summer and fall of 2007.
- The depth and the fact that for much of its length the box had to be in the same location as the pipe was made the staging and construction particularly challenging. Heavy rains had to be accommodated throughout the duration of the project.
