Project Summary

The project will consist of widening the street to four lanes plus a center median from Rollins Road to Brookview Terrace, which is approximately 10,000 feet in length.

Project Features

  • The project also includes utility line relocation, bicycle lanes, new sidewalks on both sides of the road and a pedestrian underpass just north of Chapel Hill Road. The total cost for this project is $16.1 million, which was identified as a 2005 ballot issue project.
  • Work will progress in stages and traffic will be shifted on temporary lanes during various phases until completed by Summer/Fall 2010, weather dependent. The contractor will attempt to keep traffic disruption to a minimum.
  • Once completed, the expansion of Scott Boulevard will significantly help with vehicular and pedestrian traffic to offer better connectivity in west Columbia and alleviate traffic congestion. This Phase 1 work will be followed by two more phases as funding permits, the planned improvements ultimately extend south to Route KK.
