Project Features
- Stone Canyon is a 362 acre golf course community having 232 residential home sites. The unique aspect of this project is the reclamation of the former Woods Chapel Landfill for construction of a Greg Norman Signature Golf Course. Emery Sapp & Sons Inc was the general site contractor performing all of the excavation and grading, installation of water and sewer lines, paving of streets, sidewalks, cart paths and parking lots, and construction of storm water facilities. The work included construction of a major concrete box culvert serving as a drainage structure and a golf cart tunnel. Rock excavation was crushed on site for use as utility trench bedding.
- The landfill presented many environmental challenges above and beyond the normal land disturbance requirements. In addition to constructing and maintaining extensive erosion control systems, it was necessary to know and comply with MDNR requirements for working on the landfill area. Emery Sapp & Sons Inc's experience with environmental compliance enabled the company to successfully complete its responsibilities in this area.
